Different Categories of the Exam:

The allotments in different positions are done largely on the basis of the ranks obtained in the exam.

Two Different Levels of the Exam:

There are generally two different levels in which the exam is conducted. The eligible candidates should first sit for the written exam. Once they qualify in the written exam, they would be called for the interview. Once they qualify in the interview, they would be given the entrance to the different categories of engineering.

The Eligibility Criteria:

First of all, in order to be eligible for IES Exam, the candidates should be a citizen of India, and must have crossed 21 years of age. However, the candidates would be able to sit for the exam till they are 30. In terms of educational qualification, the candidates must have a degree in engineering from a recognized university. An MSc degree in Radio Physics, Electronics, and wireless communications can also be helpful.

Recruitment In Different Posts in Government Sectors:

The IES Exam is often considered to be tougher than the Indian civil services. Once qualified, a candidate would obtain jobs in different sectors of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and even electronics and telecommunication engineering at different designations. The numbers of vacancies that are available for the candidates in different levels, and these vacancies are filled in all he four different categories.
