The Police department of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has recently announced notification for induction of Police Constable and Head Constable for its Motor Transport section. The Positions are basically technical positions of Electrician, Mechanic Helper and Assistant Mechanic. The details of the eligibility criteria and the other essentials for application are detailed as under. As usual being a state government job, this bears adequate security and other benefits with a standard pay scale and remunerations.

- Last date to send completed application from: 15-April-2013 by 1700 Hours
- Dates for availability of Admit Card: from 22-April-2013 to 23-April-2013 (to be collected in person)
Name of the Job Position and Number of Vacancies:
- Head Constable (Electrician) – 01 Position (reserved for OBC of A&N Islands)
- Head Constable (Painter) – 01 Position (Unreserved)
- Police Constable (Mechanic Helper) – 01 Position (Unreserved)
- Police Constable (Assistant Mechanic) – 01 Position (reserved for OBC of A&N Islands)
Pay Scale Provisions:
- Head Constable – The applicant will be eligible for a Scale in PB-I with Rs.5200-Rs.20200 and a Grade Pay of Rs.2400
- Police Constable – The applicant will be eligible for a Scale in PB-I with Rs.5200-Rs.20200 and a Grade Pay of Rs.2000
Academic Requirements:
- Head Constable (Electrician) – The candidate must have completed Matriculation and must have an ITI trade certification in the Electrician Trade. At least 2 Years of Work Experience as Electrician is desirable.
- Head Constable (Painter) – The candidate must have completed Matriculation and must have an ITI trade certification in the Painter Trade. In absence of ITI certification the candidate should possess at least 3 Years of Work Experience as Painter
- Police Constable (Mechanic Helper) – The candidate must have completed Matriculation and must have an ITI trade certification in the Motor Mechanism/ Welding/ Fitter/ Painter/ Electrician Trade.
- Police Constable (Assistant Mechanic) – The candidate must have completed Matriculation and must have an ITI trade certification in the Motor Mechanism trade
Age Criteria:
- Head Constable– The applicant should be within 18-33 years of age as on the last date of application
- Police Constable (Mechanic Helper) – The applicant should be within 18-25 years of age as on the last date of Application
- Note: Age will be relaxable for the OBC candidates as per rules
Physical Requirements:
- Height: 165 cm
- Chest (normal): 79 Cm
- Chest (expanded): 84 cm
- Apart from this standard the candidates have to pass through Physical Endurance Test

The selection of candidates will be done through the following stages:

- Written Examination
- Trade Test
- Interview
- Final Medical Test
